Linsey's First Golf Lesson!

On sunday I had my first golf lesson! Joe is my golf coach and he's Australian but obviously living in Singapore for now! He seems really nice. Joe videoed me playing at the range and then I had to watch it back with him. It turns out I hold my clubs too much in the palm of my hand and not enough in my fingers and I swing too far round my body :( So lots to practise and my next lesson is booked for Thursday! I'm planning on giving Paula Creamer a swing for her money since I do have the pink clubs to match ;)

BBQ Brunch

Iain and I went for BBQ brunch on saturday night. All you can eat from the bbq with free flow wine and beer! It's held at the Pan Pacific Hotel which is near Marina Bay. As you sit on the deck you watch the colours of Suntec city and eat and drink! There was a magician for entertainment and he was excellent. You can see how much he baffled us!
After that we went to Brix nightclub at the Hyatt Hotel. The band were brilliant and we had a great night!

Johor Bahru Off Road Racing

We went to Johor Bahru, Malaysia for the weekend. The golf course Horizon Hills which we really like is there and only about an hour from our house. Steve picked us up at 6.15am and we headed for Tuas which is the bridge which links us over the Straits to Malaysia. It is a bit like the Forth Road Bridge except you have to go through immigration but you do it all from the car! The person just peaks in the window from their cubby hole to check it is you. The bridge takes about 10 minutes to cross.

We arrived at Horizon Hills and played fourballs with Steve and Arrows. I played my best game so far and even at the 17th hole I managed to hit the ball right across the water to the green so I was very chuffed! Iain played brilliantly winning the round and his lunch! Steve went back on saturday afternoon and meanwhile Tyra arrived to play with us in the afternoon. We went back out in the afternoon and played 16 holes. It was really good fun!

Tyra's Mum and Dad have bought a holiday home in JB so we were invited there for the weekend. We went back and had a bbq and a few drinks but by 11.30pm we were all shattered so off to bed! The next day we found the Johor Bahru Off Road Racing and what an event it was! The ground had been dug purposefully by JCBs and there were a lot of competitors. Off road racing looks a lot tougher than I expected and you need guts. Some of the cars got stuck and needed the JCB to come pull them out! We then made our way back to Skype the Hogie's Christmas lunch!

Bisra!

Bisra flew into Singapore for the night then off to Brisbane and back to Singapore! It was absolutely brilliant to see her. Iain and I took her out to Clarke Quay on her first night for drinks and dinner and pointed out all the sights around us. We chatted non-stop and then dropped Bisra back at her hotel in preparation for her next flight.

Bisra then came back to Singapore on her way home so she came out to see us in our condo. We chilled out by the pool drinking wine and chatting! Bisra looked fantastic and it was great to see her!

Linsey's Work Night Out

This is my work colleagues in Singapore! Next to me is Laurine (pre-school teacher); Suresh (special needs education); May Li (assistant); and Prezmeck (art therapist). We were out for drinks in Ice Cold Beer where Asahi was the happy hour beer. You had to collect your bottle caps and if you had the most then you won a crate which as you can see our group won! We were all a bit tipsy approaching the holiday weekend!

Euan and Jacq's House Warming

Good Friday and Euan and Jacq's House warming! Euan cooked a lovely meal of Pea and Mint soup followed by Salmon. We went to visit their new condo as they'd just moved in together. Check out the fantastic eagle or phoneix or whatever that Bob and Sarah got them! Euan had a bet on that Sarah couldn't resist tack!
Since it was Good Friday we then had an Easter Egg Hunt followed by party games. It was a really good night!

Wakeboarding

Iain and I went wakeboarding with Mark and Imy at Punggol. Iain had done it before in Scotland and our instructor laughed at the thought of the cold water! Iain was brilliant and got up straight away riding the wakes! I found it really challenging initially not to use my arms to pull myself up but i got the hang of it in the end. It was great fun!
After we sat on the harbour and had stemboat, (which is a big wok that sits on your table while you throw whatever you want to eat in it to cook) - we ate so many prawns!

Neil's birthday!

Neil's birthday was on 28th of March the same day as Earth Day. We went to Henderson Waves where we walked along the bridge and met the monkeys. There are a lot of wild monkeys in Singapore - bit different compared to Scotland! We then did the treetops walk down to a czech Microbrewery to refresh. After a group of us went to Villa Bali which is a really nice restaurant. Since it was Earth Day all the lights were out from 8-9pm so it was candlelit and very romantic!
In the photos is Mark and Tyra, Helen and Rog then Iain and Neil. They're some of our golfing friends!
